About Daniel.

Daniel Park’s speaking career began in graduate school, when he was tasked with creating an EQ (emotional intelligence) training to teach to a small group. Not only did he enjoy creating the lesson and teaching it, he believed strongly in the topic. Daniel believes that emotional intelligence could not only benefit peoples’ personal lives, but also benefit them in business. He began asking local organizations if they would be interested in having him walk their team through the training. It was then when a close friend in real estate recommended that he submit his training to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission to be certified. His course was approved, and as a result, it is eligible as continuing education credit for Realtors state-wide. This led to Daniel speaking across the state to various organizations and associations. In addition to teaching his emotional intelligence course, Daniel has also led onsite workshops with various real estate firms around the country, and most recently was a speaker at an international real estate conference. While he specializes in emotional intelligence, Daniel also speaks on the topics of leadership, communication, conflict, personality, and emotional health/wellness.

Prior to beginning his career in real estate, Daniel was co-founder and manager of Mosaic House in Prague, Czech Republic. Mosaic House is a unique accommodation business specializing in hospitality and “green” technology. As a co-founder, his responsibilities included design, project management, development of operations, and profit/loss analysis. Following his time in Prague, Daniel served as the Ministry Development Coordinator for Breakaway Ministries at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.

Daniel earned his B.A. in Psychology from Clemson University, and his Master‘s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Concordia University. Daniel is a certified Professional Coach and Consultant from Concordia University and is certified to administer the EQ-i 2.0 and EQ 360 Assessments. Daniel has been a licensed Realtor for 10 years. He started his career in Texas, and now serves clients in Knoxville, Tennessee. He has experience in both residential and commercial real estate. Outside of work, Daniel loves running, Liverpool, and Clemson sports, but values spending time with his family the most. He and his wife Brook have four children.

Q: Why are you seeking this position and describe what you believe the responsibilities of a Director or Officer of ETNR should be?

I am seeking this position of First VP for multiple reasons. One, I believe that our real estate  industry and our ETNR Association significantly impact not just our thousands of members but  the East Tennessee community as a whole. Real estate plays a crucial role in the economy and  well-being of the public and this role and additional roles to follow are at the forefront of that. I  see the tremendous responsibility that comes with it and believe I can shoulder that and also  build on the great work of previous officers.

A few years ago, Justin Bailey told me that his hope is to see the reputation of real estate  professionals in the Knoxville area grow more and more respected within the community as a  whole. When I heard that, I knew I wanted to play a part in seeing that vision become a reality.  This position situates me in a place where I can do just that. While I believe I have leadership  gifts, working as a solo real estate agent doesn’t always allow me to express those. The role of  First VP enables me to use both my gifts and the education I received when obtaining my  master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, to impact the industry and individuals of real  estate. I see two crucial ingredients needed to improve the reputations of our members and  subsequently our industry, which are competence and character. We must do our jobs well  with training, education, networking, and collaboration and we must do it all with utmost  integrity.

I believe the responsibilities of an officer include being present, engaging with the Board and  operating in sync with the ETNR Staff. It’s important to show up on time to meetings and attend  functions. This role will invite feedback, concerns, and critiques from members and crucial to  sift through those, listen well, and make wise decisions. It is also the responsibility of officers to  lead by example, showing the courage, competence, and character that we hope all members  value and work toward.
